Q: Why should I enrol in a course at Model Scout Academy?
A: Modelling is like any other career path, in that it requires some investment in your education. Sadly, it’s not enough to rely on your natural beauty. There are numerous aspects of the business that you can learn with us that will enhance your chances of securing a contract with a modelling agency and progressing to a successful career in front of the lens.
Q: Is there an age limit?
A: Although frowned upon in some quarters, the age of models is getting younger. Prada and Balenciagga are just two of the leading brands that have used 13 and 14-year-olds in their campaigns. That said, the traditional age where models work consistently is 15 or 16. You can, of course, begin your modelling education at any age. If you are Under-18 please ensure you have your parents permission to enrol.
Q: Do I fit the height requirements to be a model?
A: Models do come in all shapes and sizes. Although height is often a prerequisite for the catwalk, there are numerous forms of modelling where you can have a successful career without being statuesque. For girls the normal requirement for runway is 172cm to 181cm (size 6 to 8); and for a boy it’s 182cm to 190cm. This, of course, does not take into account ‘plus size’ modelling which is becoming increasingly prevalent.
Q: How do I know if I’ve got the right look to be a professional model?
A: There is a traditional view of how a model should look, but many photographers and brands will often set great store by someone bringing something different to the table. A little quirkiness can go a long way. It is also a case that even naturally beautiful people do not necessarily photograph well, and the flip side is that others are transformed by the right make-up and the camera loves them. In short there is no definitive answer. However, as Model Scout Academy we have the necessary experience (as a Casting Director) to judge whether it is the right career choice, and also the ability to ensure you make the most of your God given gifts.

A: At Model Scout Academy we have a network of contacts with reputable modelling agencies, not just in Australia but also across the globe. We will help you make that next step, ensure you have all the tools to succeed, and advise on portfolio. What is certain is that you chances of pocketing that contract will be considerably higher if you walk through the agency door with a level of professionalism already ion your armoury. Modelling agencies are keener to recruit models that require minimal training. It saves them time and money. Many will not even contemplate taking on someone who they have to invest in training.
